Entertainment
Invasion is another stellar gem in the Apple TV+ catalogue and a fascinating sci-fi story. A story connecting across the globe, across different ages and demographics, it is an intricate, genius way of storytelling. I particularly enjoy how it is like a veil being gradually lifted, revealing tiny pieces bit by bit, but there remains immense mystery throughout, just as it would be if a global event like that happened in real life. Season 2 is currently airing weekly and this show is well worth the watch.
Beauty
The Sunday Riley C.E.O. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum is no light investment at £70.00 at Cult Beauty but it feels like a sweet glass of orange juice for your face. It does have a lightly citrus-orange scent, not overpowering - just the perfect balance, and the serum is luxurious, seamless in absorbing into the skin. You only need a very small amount to cover your face and as we enjoy the end of summer, I suspect we will all soon need the vitamin C boost.
Song of the Week
I referred to the end of summer week before last, not anticipating that the best of our summer would pop up in early September. This weather is lounging bliss so I’m more than happy to be proved wrong by the heat revival! I would love to see this sunshine stick around forever but I suspect autumn will be upon us soon enough.
However whilst we still have our sunshine days, I feel like this song is perfect lazy end of summer vibes, with a touch of stoic reflection. Enjoy!
Recipe
Piri Piri Chicken, Romaine and Stew Mix Salad
Perhaps my favourite salad yet, this one is warming comfort food like a stew, but also refreshing due to the salad ingredients paired here. I suspect we’re enjoying the last swan of beautiful hot weather before we head into colder weather and this one made for pleasurable lunches this week - the ingredients in the portions they are sold cover 3-4 portions, enough for a few solo lunches or as a batch prep for family. Where 1/3 is stated, adjust to 1/4 if you want a lighter portion, it can be split as 3 larger portions or 4 lighter portions.
Ingredients (Single Portion):
2-3 Handfuls Torn Romaine Salad Leaves
Drizzle of French Salad Dressing
1/3 Pack Pre-made Piri Piri Chicken
1/3 Microwave Pouch of Lentils
1/3 Microwave Pouch of Wholegrain Rice and Quinoa
1/3 Tin of Sliced Carrots
1/3 Tin of Cannellini Beans
Sprinkling of Grated Mozzarella
Instructions:
Prep full microwave pouches and tins then refrigerate/reheat each portion over several days (unless you intend to cook the whole pouches and tins for a family or group).
Bring a pan of water to the boil and simmer the sliced carrots and cannellini beans for 3-4 minutes, then drain.
Microwave the Wholegrain Rice and Quinoa.
Microwave the Lentils.
Take the sliced carrots, cannellini beans, lentils, wholegrain rice and quinoa - add the piri piri chicken, then sprinkle grated mozzarella and mix through all ingredients, so that the mozzarella melts through and the ingredients are well mixed.
Finally wash and tear the romaine lettuce into bite sized pieces, add to the mixture, drizzle with the French salad dressing and stir this thoroughly through the rest of the mixture - it’s now ready to eat!
